Valerie L. (nee Gessler) Allen, 58 Valerie L. (nee Gessler) Allen, 58, of Hockessin, DE, formerly of Aldan and Media, PA, died August 24, 2013. Born in Media, PA. She was a graduate of Cardinal O'Hara High School and attended Delaware County Community Collage and Villanova University. Valerie worked as a Pet Therapist and was a Project Manager/Director for Paws for People for two years.
Previously she worked for Conrail for twenty seven years. Valerie was a CYM Volleyball Coach, and played softball. She was on the Delco Woman's CED league also in NCCO in New Castle County, DE. She was a coach & volunteer at Corpus Christie/All Saints Church and a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church.
Valarie was treasurer of the Canterbury Hills Civic Association. She was pre-deceased by her brothers the late Douglas Gessler and Joseph Gessler, Jr. Survivors: Husband, William J. (Chip) Allen. Mother, Luise Gessler of Aston, PA. Sisters, Sue Scanlon of Aldan, PA. and Christine Gessler of Chandler, AZ. Visitation: Wednesday evening, from 7 to 9 PM, at the Rigby Harting & Hagan Funeral Home, 15 E. Fourth St., Media, PA. and again Thursday morning, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the funeral home.
Funeral Service: Mass: Thursday, 11:00 AM, at Nativity BVM. Church, Franklin & Monroe Sts. Media, PA. Contributions: Paws for People, PO. Box 9955, Newark, Delaware 19714 Arrangements: Rigby Harting & Hagan Funeral Home.
Burial will be in SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery
