Leonard Richard Schwager of Portland died of cancer Saturday in his home. He was 73. The funeral for Mr. Schwager will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Finley's Sunset Hills Mortuary chapel in Portland. Burial will be in Willamette National Cemetery. Mr. Schwager was born May 14, 1920, in Lake Park, Iowa. He had lived in Portland since 1958. He was a World War II veteran and an active square dancer. Mr. Schwager had worked in refrigeration service and sales until retiring in 1983. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Geraldine; daughter, Anita A. Boardman of Portland; son, Jim A. of Keizer; sister, Jean Seewald of Hobe Sound, Fla.; brother, Dale of Portland; and three grandchildren.
The family suggests that remembrances be contributions to either the American Cancer Society or the American Red Cross.
