He had been a resident of Iowa for 71 years. On July 29, 1880, he was married to to Mary Lower. Nine children were born, six of them survive. They are Ann, Mrs. William Hahn, of Des Moines, Ethel, Mrs. Arthur Thorp, of Springfied, Missouri, Genevieve, Mrs. Dale Agler of Dougherty, Myron of Atchinson, Kansas, Alfred of Powell, Wyo., and Helen, Mrs. Dowey La Rue of Goldfield.
In 1914, he was married to Mrs. Caroline "Hansen" Howch, who survives him. He also leaves three brothers, 17 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Burial was at Hampton.s
