Meriden Daily Journal, Monday, 30 October 1893. Mrs. Christian (sic?) W. Schaefer, wife of Carl Schaefer, died at 4 o'clock yesterday morning after a long illness with asthma, aged sixty-seven years. The funeral will be held at the house, 64 North avenue. Rev. C. R. Tappert will officiate and the interment will be in West cemetery.

One daughter is Anna Johanna who married August Schmalfuss. { There is a marriage between August Schmalfuss (German, age 27, New Britain, CT) and Annie Schaefer (Germany, 21, Meridan) - married 3 Sep 1881 by Charles A. Graeber. There is also a death certificate from New Britain, CT of Annie Johanna Schmalfuss. Died of cancer of the intestines. She died at 178 Kensington St, New Britain, CT. There were 2 families in the household and she was a housewife. She was married to August Schmalfuss. Date of death - May 16, 1913. Date of birth - July 18, 1860.
