Alma Catherine Lichty Grieshop-Huwe
Alma C. Grieshop-Huwe, 86, of Sioux City died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Gerald Feierfeil of Nativity Church officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be 2 to 6 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 3 p.m., at the funeral home.

Alma was born in Fairview, Okla., on July 3, 1916, the daughter of Michael Phillip and Martha Cecelia (Schmidt) Lichty. She moved to Wessington, S.D., in 1926, where she attended school. She then came to Sioux City in 1934.

She married Elmer Grieshop April 5, 1948. He passed away Aug. 3, 1958. She lived in Ohio from 1948 to 1968. She married Joseph Huwe on June 22, 1968. He died on Aug. 4, 1994. In 1968 she moved to Dell Rapids, S.D. She moved back to Sioux City in 1994, where she had resided ever since. Alma was a farmer's wife with both husbands. She was employed with Swift & Co. in Sioux City. She cleaned houses and was a landlord for an apartment house.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sioux City. She enjoyed playing cards, making quilts and time with her great-grandson.

Survivors include a daughter, Del Ann Grieshop of Sioux City; a son, David Grieshop of Sioux City; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Catherine Grieshop of Sioux City; a great-grandson, Christopher C. LeFebvre of Sioux City; two sisters, Clara Wingert of Sioux City, and Hazel Lichty; a brother, Theodore Lichty; several nieces and nephews; nine stepchildren; and 20 stepgrandchildren.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Ottillia Williams, Frances Snyder and Eunice Pavlushik.

Pallbearers will be Chris LeFebvre, Lyle McCord, Jerry Hoff, Charlie Huwe and John Huwe.
