A funeral service for Walter Kiefer, 55, of South Dansville, who was fatally injured in a tractor accident Saturday afternoon, will be conducted in the Baird Funeral Home at 3:15 p.m. today.

Mr. Kiefer was pinned beneath the tractor he was operating when it jumped an embankment and rolled over on Cemetery Rd. near the Walker Hill Rd. in South Dansville.

He was pronounced dead at the scene of a crushed chest, punctured lung and internal injuries by Steuben County Coroner Dr. Ray Robinson of Wayland.

Four children riding on the tractor with Mr. Kiefer escaped injury in the accident. According to State Police, three of the youngsters, Patricia Smith, 8 and her two brothers, Wayne, 3, and James, 18 months, were riding on a plat-form on the back of the tractor. Another brother, Arthur, 5, was sitting on the driver's lap. They are children of Mrs. Patricia Smith of Scottsburg.

Investigating the accident were Trooper Dan Mankowski of the Wayland sub-station and B.C.I. Investigator J.J. Moulthrop of Bath.

Mr. Kiefer is survived by a son, S-Sgt. Jack Kiefer of Colorado; a daughter, Mrs. Helen Argoitia of Reno, Nev.; four grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Dana Burger; a brother, Arthur Kiefer of Dansville; several nieces and nephews.

The Rev. Arthur Eiss of Arkport will officiate at the funeral service. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, South Dansville. (Dansville Breeze, July 13, 1965)
