Silver Clem Eiken, 77, Taos, died May 23, 2001 at St. Mary's Health Center. He was born Jun 20, 1923, in Taos, the son of Vincent and Adela Kerperin Eiken. He was married May 12, 1962 in Taos to Clara Christine Grothoff, who survives at the home. He worked at Tweedie Shoe Factory, St. Francis Church and School, Chesebrough-Ponds Inc., and with his family at Eiken's Food Store in Taos. He was a Navy veteran of WW II. He was a charter member of the Taos Fire Department Board.
Other survivors include one daughter, Mayra G. Long of Taos; two sons, Brian G. Eiken of Blue Springs and Harold J. Eiken of Kearney; five sisters, Susan Eiken, Margaret Forck, and Frances Eiken, all of Taos, Sr. Francisca Eiken, CCVI of San Antonio, TX and Kelly Hardin of Blue Springs; two brothers, Joseph Eiken of Mesa, AZ and Edward Eiken of Taos. Two sons, Kurt Eiken and Patrick Eiken, preceded him in death. Services will be Saturday, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. The Rev. J. David Maher will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in the church cemetery.
