Ben W. Lunney was born July 22, 1928 in Ashton, SD to William "Chub" and Mary (Turner) Lunney. He graduated from Ashton High School in 1946. He worked at Redman Gas, the Chevrolet garage and owned the Sears store in Redfield for 18 years. Ben served in the Army National Guard and was honorable discharged in 1952. He was a member of First Congregational UCC Church and the Clay Kiser Post 92 for 62 years.
Ben married Rita Schade on September 3, 1953 at the Wheaton Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards. He enjoyed many summers at West Whitlock on the river and getting together with his friends and family.
Ben is survived by his wife Rita; his daughter Shelly Loveless; a son Dan Lunney and his special friend Laura; 3 grandsons: David, Patrick and Brendan Lunney; a sister Shirley Leinen and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter.
