At the home of her daughter in Racine, March 5, 1904, of heart trouble, Mrs. Caroline, widow of Peter Utzinger, aged 73 years.
Caroline Burkhardt was born in Bavaria Nov. 1, 1830. Left an orphan at the age of 11, she was reared by strangers and came to New York at the age of 21. She was married there to Mr. Utzinger April 30, 1854. In 1855 they moved to Watertown, Wis., and in 1862 came to Racine township where their home has since been. The husband died Dec. 10, 1903, and less than three months later the widow follows to the better land.
Four children survive: Silas Utzinger, Mrs. C. Schwartz, Louisa and Anna Utzinger, all of Racine. Deceased was a devout Christian, a member of the Evangelical church and was a faithful wife and loving mother.
Funeral services were held at the Evangelical church in Racine March. 7.
