He graduated from St. John's Military Academy, Delafield, WI in 1943. He received his BA degree from Carroll College in Waukesha, WI in 1948 and a Master of Divinity from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, 1953. Dr. Schuster was the recipient of honorary Doctor of Divinity Degrees from Hanover College, 1973 and Carroll College, 1975.
Dr. Schuster's Ordained Pastorates include: Lake Village, IN, Presbyterian Church; Brazil, IN, Presbyterian Church; and Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis. He also served as Stated Clerk of Synod of Lincoln Trails for 23 years and as Stated Clerk for Presbytery of Whitewater Valley for 30 years. Bill was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, Chapter, Council, and Knights Templar, Indianapolis Scottish Rite.
He entered the U. S. Navy in 1944, served in World War II, retired with rank of Commander from the U. S. Naval Reserve in 1985, and will be buried at sea by the U.S. Navy in a private ceremony.
Dr. Schuster is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rosemary (Rohloff); three sons, William, Jr. (Donna) of Arlington, David (Becky) of Southlake, TX and Jonathan (Cindy) of New Palestine; a brother, Harvey Schuster, Nashotah, WI; a sister, Doris Phillips, Dela Field, WI; and three grandchildren, David, Jr., Abigail, and Rachel Schuster.
