The memorial service for Michael Wayne Brauch will be held at 2:00p.m. on Saturday, September 14th at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bertha, with Pastor Blake Rickbeil officiating. Friends may call on Saturday at the church from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service. Surrounded by family, Mike passed away on Monday, September 9, 2013, at his home in Verndale, MN, under the care of Lakewood Hospice of Staples.

Michael Wayne Brauch was born to Robert Wayne and Donna Mae (Shanstrom) Brauch on January 29, 1957, in Bertha, MN. He attended Wadena Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1975. He continued his education in Heavy Equipment at Staples Technical School after which he worked in Wyoming for five years in the coal mines. He returned home to Minnesota, where he lived in Hewitt most of his life. He worked at Kern and Tabery as a heavy equipment operator and as a self employed truck driver during the off season. Mike and Debra Mae Evans were united in marriage on September 6, 1985, in Wadena. Mike was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 49 and of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bertha. He found enjoyment in driving, fishing, hunting, and spending time with family and friends. His love of storytelling and laughter will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mike was preceded in death by his father Robert; brother James; and grandparents George & Emma Brauch and Harvey & Lorraine Shanstrom.

He is survived by his devoted wife Deb; mother Donna (Marcel) Honingfeld of San Antonio, TX; sons David (Maha) of St. Louis Park and Daniel of Moorhead; daughters Heidi Austin of Des Moines, IA and Sarah (Zane) Packard of Hewitt; seven grandchildren; brother Thomas (Joan) of Bluffton and sister Debra (Joe) Farrel of Buford, GA; step-mother Ruth Brauch of Hewitt; and sister-in-law Deborah Brauch of Bluffton.

Honorary pallbearers will be Michael's nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearer will be Mark Allen.

Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Bertha.
