Frank was a bricklayer from Marienwerder, West Prussia, now Kwidzyn, Poland. The family surname was originally Scheumanski, and changed to Schuman in Chicago. He immigrated in 1872 with his wife Anna Gutrich and their family, and became a "Rebuilder Family" that helped rebuild Chicago after the 1871 fire. The date on the family obelisk is for his internment, because when it was carved in the 1970s, that is all the information about his death date that was available.
