Laura Mildred Havel, daughter of Joe and Albina Havel, was born February 5, 1916 on a farm near Cuba KS, and died February 16, 2008 at Hillcrest Manor in Sunnyside, Washington at the age of 92 years and 11 days old. As a child, Laura lived and attended school in the Cuba and Agenda area.
She was united in marriage to Charley Leroy Kauer on September 25, 1935 in Concordia Ks. Charley and Laura moved to Sunnyside in 1937 where they founded Charley's O.K. Tire Service which they owned and operated until they retired in 1975. Following their retirement the Kauers traveled, but continued to make their home in Sunnyside. Laura will always be remembered for her love of shopping and her collection of dishes.
Laura is survived by one brother Clarence Havel and his wife Mary Alice of Agenda, Ks. She will be sadly missed by her brother, sister-in law, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews as well as many friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Charley Kauer on December 17, 1988, her father, mother, two brothers, Glen J. Havel and Leon W. Havel and one sister, Olive E. Havel-Erickson.
Viewing and visitation will be held at the Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside, WA. Graveside Services for Laura Mildred Havel Kauer will be held at the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens, Sunnyside, WA under the direction of the Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside.
