Rose M Nicklas was born Dec. 25, 1887 or 1889 (her obituary says 1887, headstone reads 1889) in Renovo, Clinton County, PA. to Martin J. Nicklas and Julia A. Wesnitzer. She was one of 13 or so children.

1900 Renovo, Clinton, PA, M Nicholas 50 a Conductor, Julia M 46, had 12 children with 11 alive, Edward M 24 a Boiler Laborer, Lizzie M 21, Anna M 16, Louise M 12, Rose M 11, Lillian L 7, Marie B 7, Julia M 4, and Frances J 2.

1910 Buffalo, Erie, NY, Rose Nicholas 20, born about 1890 PA, a boarder, single, a Laundress living at r 44 Rose St. with the Schurter family. Rose’s father also located to this area after the death of her mother in 1909. He died there in 1931, and was sent home for burial.

1930 Buffalo, Erie, NY, John Oehler 41, Carpenter at Street R Shop, rented home at 252 Stewart St for $75 monthly, Rose 40, married at age 24 (abt 1913-14), Gerald 15, and Geraldine 12, also Jacob Oehler 38, John’s brother.

1940 Buffalo, Erie, NY, John Oehler 51, a Utility Man at Street Railway, earned $1,456, rented home at 52 S. Domedion for $30 monthly, Gase (Rose) 50, Geord (Gerard) 25 a Butcher, and Geroldine (Geraldine) age 22 and a Clerk.

Rose died on Oct. 26, 1949 in the hospital and was buried at Mount Calvary Cemetery where her husband and son are.

Mrs. Rose Nicklas Oehler, 61, of 16 Pine Ridge Ter., Cheektowaga, died Wednesday at Millard Fillmore Hospital. She had been ill four weeks. Prayers will be said at 9.30 a.m. tomorrow at the Rapin Funeral Home, 2407 Genesee St., and a Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 10 o'clock at Most Holy Redeemer Church. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Pine Hill.
Mrs. Oehler was born at Renovo, Pa. December 25, 1887, and moved to Buffalo as a young girl. She was the wife of John M. Oehler, a mechanic for the International Railway Co. for many years. She was a member of the Ladies Sodality of Most Holy Redeemer Church and of Niagara Circle 127, Foresters of America.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Oehler is survived by a son and daughter, Gerard Oehler and Mrs. Ralph J. Dustman.
