Daughter of William Jennings Bryan Graham & Ruth Minerva (Sands) Graham.

Obituary . . . RENO, Nevada - Violet Carpenter Graham, 79, born Dec. 19, 1922, in Custer, Montana, passed away peacefully from natural causes at her daughter's home in Reno, on March 16, 2002. *She is survived by her two daughters, Joette Stukes from Carson City and Earlene "E.C." Strickley from Reno, plus five grandchildren, Shelly Bale, Kori Oesterling, Darren Stukes, Josh and Jason Corbett. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Spencer and Markus Oesterling, Hannah Corbett Minetto, Dalton Stukes and Jakob Bale, plus two sisters in Wyoming, Myrtle Proctor and Crystal Hager. *She was preceded in death by her parents, William J.B. and Ruth Graham; her brother, William S. Graham; her sister, Ethel Needens Francis; her daughter, Carolyn Lee Carpenter in 1959; and her husband, Earl W. Carpenter in 1976. *Vi loved the outdoors, country roads and horses. In the end, her favorite pastime was crossword puzzles! Even though she grew up on a ranch in Montana, but raised her girls in Reno, you couldn't take the country out of her. We'll all remember the many tales she told of her father, W.J.B. "Bill" Graham, homesteading with his family in Montana. Over the years, she told many stories of her childhood on the ranch which will never be forgotten. Joette and Erlene "E.C." have many great memories vacationing on their grandparents' ranch each summer in Wyola, Mont., as does granddaughter Shelly. *Graveside services were held at Mountain View Cemetery in Reno on Tuesday, March 19. Mountain View Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. *In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Mary's Hospice of Northern Nevada, 3605 Grant Drive, Reno, NV 89509.
