Ralph was born and lived all his life in New Orleans, LA.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents Jacob Frederick Schaefer and Mathilda Auderer Schaefer and his brothers Edward and Frederick.
Beloved husband of Dolores Gervais Schaefer for over 70 years. Loving father of Ralph Schaefer, Jr. (Patricia), Ronald Schaefer (Kim) and the late Rhonda Schaefer Galland (Nicky) and baby Donald Edward Schaefer.
He is also survived by his two grandsons Ralph Schaefer, III (Mandy) and Bradley Schaefer (Michelle). He was recently blessed with two great granddaughters, Juliet and Halle. He will be missed by his beloved dog, Rufus.
He served in WWII as a member of the Army Air Corp. Upon discharge, he worked as an office manager for Al Epstein, Inc. until his retirement and then part-time for H & R Block.
He spent many days outdoors at his camp crabbing and fishing on Lake Pontchartrain and also he was an avid hunter. He enjoyed watching LSU and the Saints. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church.
The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of the Fresenius Ferncrest Dialysis Unit for their care and support and also his dear friend Roxy Pichon.
