Pismo Beach: Walter J. Mitchell, 61, died Tursday, Feb 25, 1986 in a San Luis Obispo hospital.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. today (Friday) in the Arroyo Grande Cemetery. Officers of Oceano/Five Cities Elks Lodge, No 2504 officiated.
Mr. Mitchell was born Oct. 1, 1924 in Orcutt and was a longtime resident of the South County, living the last 11 years in Pismo Beach.
He was a member of the Christian Science Church; a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Pismo Beach; a member of the Pismos 'N Tawa Square Dance Club; a member of the Solo Square Dance Club and a veteran of the United States Navy and Army World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Ellen L. Mitchell of Pismo Beach; three sons, Michael Mitchell and Timothy Mitchell, both of Portland, OR. and Robert Warton of Grover City; two daughters, Marilyn Gilliam of Salem, OR. and Betty Cunningham of Grover City; two sisters, Catherin Colburn of Seaside and Dorothy Gross of Tobeka, KS., 11 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
Services are under the direction of the Wood-Voakes Mortuary in Arroyo Grande.
