He served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1945 in the European Theatre.
He married Rosella "Rosie" Depner on October 27, 1945 at the Lutheran Church in Oconto Falls, WI. They lived one year on the farm in Oconto County near Oconto Falls and then moved to Chicago, IL.
In 1984, the couple moved to Lena, WI and then to their Pound address in the Town of Beaver.
Rosella preceded him in death June 2, 2011. He was a member of the Pioneer Baptist Church in Pound, WI. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, telling stories and spending time with family and friends.
Surviving are six children: Judy (Ron) Mucci of Streamwood, IL; Dennis (Lana) and Ferris, both of Palmer, AK; Pam (Richard) Borkowski of Crown Point, IN; Susan (Patrick) Gilbert of Dodgeville, WI and Cheryl Jagiello of Bellingham, WA; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; a brother Alvin Bieber of Rockford, IL; a sister Dorothy Mertens of Pewaukee, WI and a sister-in-law Ruth Bieber of Pound.
Along with his parents and wife Rosella, he was preceded in death by two brothers Ferris and Loren; a sister Esther and a son-in-law Dean Jagiello.
Visitation and funeral services held at First Baptist Church in Pound, WI with burial in the church cemetery. Military Rites conducted by the Coleman American Legion and VFW.
