OBITUARY
Anna Sophia Buske, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sander Assing, was born September 11. 1854 in Voßkuhlen, by Aurich-Oldendorf Ostfriesland, Germany. October 1, 1854 she was brought to the Lord in Holy Baptism, which covenant was renewed by confirmation on February 28, 1873 in Aurich-Oldendorf by Eode Supt.
The deceased came to this country at the age of 18, with her parents and settled n Bellville Township. Pocahontas County, Iowa. There in 1884 she was joined n holy wedlock with Fred Buske in the parental home, by the Rev. Masschart of Pomeroy officiating. This union was blessed with four children. The young couple moved on a farm in Lake Township where the deceased
resided the remainder of her life. After the death of her husband, the deceased lived alone in the house beside her son William. She was always in good health until seven years ago when she was stricken with a strange malady which changed her happy talkative disposition into a somber melancholy one. It was hard to believe that one who was so happy and content should be afflicted with such an ailment, but God saw fit to visit her thus, and she bore it until He removed her at length from all Burrow, pain, and grief on Friday evening, August 14, about midnight. She died at the home of her son, William, where she had received the gracious and watchful care of loved ones all these years. During her illness she frequently partook of Holy Communion, and was comforted with God's Word, thereby preparing for the final conflict. In spite of her weakened condition she remained conscious until almost her dying moment, and could join in the Lord's Prayer. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1904 and one daughter Mrs. Lena Bottin in 1924. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Mary Post of Gilmore City, and two sons: William of Gilmore City and Carl of California; also 35 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; one brother, Gerd of Pomeroy, and one sister, Mrs. Grace Peters also of Pomeroy. She reached the age of 87 years. 11 months and 3 days. Interment was in St. John's cemetery. Asleep in Jesus, blessed sleep from which none ever wakes to weep a calm and undisturbed repose Unbroken by the last foes.
