TELL CITY - Charles M. Braun, 88, died Friday, Oct. 24, 2003, at St. Mary's Medical Center, Evansville.
A native of Tell City, he was born Dec. 15, 1914, the son of the late Charles E. and Catherine (Olberding) Braun. He was united in marriage in 1936 to the former Ottilia F. Collins. She died June 11, 1977. They were married 41 years. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Christine Marsh and two brothers, Vernon and Edgar Braun.
He worked at the Tell City Knott Factory for 17 years, General Electric, and retired from Alcoa after 13 years.
He was an avid Yankee baseball fan, enjoyed vegetable gardening, playing euchre, fishing, hunting, dancing and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Loyal Order of Moose 1424 and the Eagles.
Surviving are two sons, Charles "Wayne" of Newburgh and Jan of Santa Claus; five grandchildren, Dana Blake, Karin Gries, Nicole Spurling, Charles "Chad" and Eric Braun; and 10 great grandchildren.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 27, at St. Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Carl Deitchman officiated. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery in Tell City.
Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home, Tell City, was in charge of arrangements where a Moose service and prayer service was held Sunday evening.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
