Fern L. Schneekloth, 87
Fern L. Schneekloth was born Nov. 3, 1914, in Bennington to Frederick and Selma Paulsen. She was baptized June 24, 1923, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bennington, and confirmed April 13, 1930, at Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church in Bennington. She attended Bennington Public Schools and the Van Sant School of Business in Omaha.
On March 12, 1932, Fern Paulsen was married in her parents' home in Bennington to Arthur H. Schneekloth. They were blessed with a daughter and a son.
The couple farmed five miles south of Bennington in Douglas County, then moved to a farm in Washington County in 1941. They lived in California from 1941-1945, where Mrs. Schneekloth was employed by the U.S. Marine Commission and the Kaiser Shipyards. In 1946, they moved back to their farm in Washington County, and lived there until moving into Fremont in 1973.
The Schneekloths became members of Fremont's First Lutheran Church in 1973. Mrs. Schneekloth was also a member of the Cozy Corner Club for many years, and was a member of the Kennard Royal Neighbors. The Schneekloths were recipients of the Governor's Conservation Citation and the Papio Soil and Water Conservation District Award in 1972.
Former Fremont resident Fern L. Schneekloth, 87, of Blair, died Friday morning, March 1, 2002, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair.
Left with memories are her children, eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, two sisters, extended family, and friends.
Visitation will be at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont from 1-9 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, with family receiving friends from 7-8 p.m. A prayer service will be held at the mortuary at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday evening, led by the Rev. Ken Jensen, chaplain of the Good Shepherd Lutheran home of Blair. Funeral services will be 11 am Wednesday, March 6, at the First Lutheran Church in Fremont with the Rev. Paul Erdal and Rev. Norman Freund officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to First Lutheran Church of Fremont.
