Melva Juliet Johnson was born on December 14, 1917 the daughter of John and Grace (Amoth) Johnson in Woodside Township in Polk County Minnesota. She was united in marriage to Carus Roed on June 25, 1939 at the Rodnes Church in Polk County. She was a long time resident of Grand Forks, ND. She moved to Park Rapids in 1977 where she has resided since. She was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church in Park Rapids, MN. She is survived by her children: Delton(Caroline) Roed of New Hope, MN; Keith (Kathy) Roed of Queen Creek, AZ; 8 grandchildren—Christine and Mathew Roed; Steve Kissner; Jason and Bradley Rose; Michelle Whalen; Nettie and Keaton Roed; 10 great grandchildren; sister—Eloise Carey; sister-in-law Helen Johnson and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Grace Johnson; her husband—Carus Roed; her daughters—Sharon Kissner and Darlene Rose; brother—Cyrus Johnson and a sister Evelyn Sundsrud. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Riverside United Methodist Church in Park Rapids, MN. There will be a visitation held on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 from 10:00 Am until the time of the services. Pastor Lee Kantonen will officiate. Interment will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Resurrection Cemetery in East Grand Forks, MN.
