Julius Andreas Just, son of Carl and Katharina (Meidinger) Just, was born May 3, 1914, on the family homestead in Friedenstal Township, rural McIntosh County, ND. Julius was baptized on Aug. 2, 1914, in Friedens Lutheran Church and confirmed in the Lutheran faith on June 22, 1922, in St. Andrew's, both in Zeeland, ND. As a small child, diptheria took Julius' father and three sisters. Julius grew up and attended school at Frieda School District in McIntosh County. After his schooling Julius began farming with his stepfather.

He was united in marriage to Helena Kay Dockter Nov. 16, 1939, in St. Andrew's Lutheran parsonage. The couple rented a farm 16 miles north of Zeeland, owned by Julius' stepfather, and began a family. Julius helped organize the Zeeland Elevator Cooperative, served on the county Agriculture Stabilization Committee and the local school board. In 1944 Helen and Julius were able to purchase their own farm near Berlin. After 24 years Julius and Helen moved a half-mile south to Berlin, and their son, Myron, took over the family farm. Fifty-eight years after Julius and Helen began farming in the Berlin community, their grandson, Christof, continues the family farm tradition.

Julius was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in LaMoure where he served as church elder. He served on the ASC committee and was active in Farmer's Union. Julius was a diligent steward of life and of the land. His Christian faith, wife and family anchored him in every endeavor. He was much loved and will be greatly missed by all of his family.
