Mae Lavon Yancey Crittenden, 88, passed away Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013. Graveside service: Noon Saturday, Nov. 9, in Star Valley Cemetery, Lincoln County, Okla. Born in Lincoln County, Okla., on Aug. 15, 1925, Mae started her education in a one-room schoolhouse before attending Chandler High School. After working at the Douglas Aircraft Co. during World War II, she attended Central State College where she earned her bachelor's degree in business and met Lavoise "Critt" Crittenden, whom she married in 1948. After Critt's death in 2000, Mae donated money to refurbish a lecture hall at the college, named Crittenden Auditorium in their honor. Mae was proud of her home state of Oklahoma as well as her adopted state of Texas and the city of Fort Worth where she had lived since 1954. She was a member of Southcliff Baptist Church. Mae was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Critt Crittenden, and her brother-in-law, Billy Joe Crittendon. Survivors: Daughter, Raye Anne Crittenden of Fort Worth; son, James Lavoise Crittenden and his wife, Anita, of Ypsilanti, Mich.; daughter, Pegeen Lavon "Peggie" Rimmer and her husband, Lee, of Colleyville; daughter, Lorri June Crittenden of Fort Worth; grandsons, Justin Lee Rimmer of Weatherford, Marshall James Rimmer of Los Angeles, Calif., Jordan Andrew Rimmer of Corpus Christi and Micah Joseph Rimmer of College Station; sister, Paulene Yancey Clarkson and her husband, Carroll, of Chandler, Okla.; and sister-in-law, Lois Jones Crittendon of Chickasha, Okla.
