Marlys Doebele, 69, died Dec. 28, 2004, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Born May 25, 1935, in Williston, N.D., she was the daughter of Hubert and Mildred (Steffenson) Rockney; was raised and educated there; and graduated from Williston High School in 1954.

On Aug. 8, 1959, she married Dudley Doebele in Colorado Springs, Colo.

The family later moved to Fort Morgan, Colo., where her husband began working for J.C. Penney, and remained until October 1963, when they relocated to McCook, Neb. In September 1965, they moved to Laramie; in November 1966, moved to Buffalo; and, in August 1970, settled in Lander.

When her sons were grown, she worked as a special education teacher's aide at Starrett Junior High School.

She was a faithful member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church in Sunsites, Ariz. Her interests included playing golf with her friends in Lander and Sunsites; watching any sporting event; bowling; reading; traveling; and spending winters in Sunsites.

Survivors include her husband of 45 years of Lander; two sons, Mike Doebele of Lander and Mark Doebele and his wife of Riverton; four grandchildren; and brother, Dennis Rockney, and his wife of Williston.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
