Funeral services for Robert M. Vietinghoff, 72, will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 13N535 French Road, Burlington. The Rev. Howard J. Gleason will officiate. Born Dec. 25, 1929, in Peru, Ill., the son of Arthur and Leonette (nee Morris) Vietinghoff, he passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2002, at Manor Care in Elgin. Following cremation, burial will be private in the Hampshire Center Cemetery. Bob married Eleanore Knipprath on Aug. 5, 1950 in Chicago. They resided in Ingleside prior to moving to Hampshire in 1967. Mr. Vietinghoff had been a partner in the Dreymiller and Kray Meat Market in Hampshire prior to becoming head custodian at the Hampshire Elementary School. He was a member and elder of St. John's Lutheran Church of Burlington, former trustee on the Hampshire Village Board and former member of the Ella Johnson Library Board. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Eleanore; sons, Kurt (Debra) Vietinghoff of Northbrook and Karl (Linda) Vietinghoff of Hampshire; grandchildren, Daniel, Karla and Joseph; sisters, Marjorie Westphal of Albuquerque, N.M. and Virginia (Emerson) Bradbury of Minonk; and twin brother, Leo Vietinghoff of Round Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Arthur, William and Donald; and sisters, Catherine Bradbury and Donna Petersen. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the time of services at 4 p.m. Sunday, at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or to the Heartland Hospice, 2235 Enterprise Dr., Suite #3510, Westchester, IL 60154.
