JOYCE WINSTON-SALEM - Mr. Dannie Wayne Joyce, 69, of Winston-Salem, passed away on January 26, 2011 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mr. Joyce was born on April 16, 1941 in Rockingham County, North Carolina to the late Mr. Louie and Sadie Joyce. After high school, Mr. Joyce began a career in construction. He was the owner of C & J Construction from 1983 to 2000. He was an active member of Trinity Moravian Church where he was a member of various groups including the men's fellowship, Seekers Sunday School Class, he cooked for the Logos program and served on the property and grounds committees. He also coached both youth and men's softball for Trinity Moravian Church. He will be remembered for his chicken pies and showing kindness and generosity towards everyone who crossed his path. Mr. Joyce was an avid North Carolina Tar Heel fan and looked forward to every August when the Little League World Series would begin. Preceding Mr. Joyce in death, along with his parents, was a stepson, Vincent Perry. He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Julia Joyce; a son, Joseph Joyce and wife; a daughter; six grandchildren; two sisters; and several nieces and nephews; and a special companion dog, "Babe". A Memorial Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Trinity Moravian Church with a visitation starting one hour prior to the Service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane Winston-Salem, NC 27103 and Trinity Moravian Church, 220 E. Sprague St. Winston-Salem, NC 27127. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care and Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home for the care that they showed towards Wayne during his last days.
