Buddy Lee Jenkins, age 73, of Oak Ridge, Tenn., went home to be with Jesus Wednesday evening, Nov. 20, 2013, after a short courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Lenoir City, Tenn., Feb. 9, 1940, to Alvin Curtis and Alta Jenkins. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather, along with being a great friend to many.

Buddy and his family moved to Oak Ridge in 1948. As a student at Oak Ridge High School, he was the captain of his track team and won all State. He graduated in 1959 and served our country in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1965. He worked at Ford Motor Company in Atlanta, Ga., until moving back to Oak Ridge and becoming a driver for UPS. He went on to work for Y-12 and then K-25, where he retired after 30 years.

Buddy enjoyed fishing, camping with his RV club and traveling with his wife across the country in their RV. He also enjoyed shooting his firearms. Most of all, Buddy loved riding his motorcycle with his wife to many Patriot Heart rides for veterans. He also belonged to the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, Chapter T, of Knoxville, and was voted "Couple of the Year" with his wife, Judy.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his loving wife and soul mate, Judy McIntyre Jenkins; sisters, Gayle and Hugh Morgan of Greenville, S.C., and Brenda Jenkins and Ron Shepard of Mt. Plymouth, Fla.; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Helen Jenkins; daughters, Susie Thevanard, and Carmen Alig and husband, John, all of Oak Ridge; stepchildren, Don and Virginia Smith of Dallas, Texas, David and Kae Smith of Memphis and Mary Smith Hagen of Oak Ridge; 12 grandchildren, Dylan Thevanard, Sebastian and Wesley Alig, Emily Jenkins, Brittany, Katie and Jacob Hagen, all of Oak Ridge, Nathan, Jason, Julia and Paul Smith of Dallas, Texas, and Thomas Smith of Memphis; and five great-grandchildren including his special little buddy MaKayla Rae Starr of Oak Ridge; aunt, Betty Jo Way and cousin Lee Sexton of Atlanta, Ga.; cousins, Lonitta Biggs, Donna and Ray Couey of Lenoir City, Tenn., and Lynn and Donny Crisp of California.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, at First Christian Church, 100 Gum Hollow Road, Oak Ridge, with the Rev. Steve Sherman and Pastor David Allred officiating. The family will welcome friends from 9 to 11 a.m., followed by the service. Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Gardens.
