Larry Alfred Idel, 62, of Jefferson City, died Saturday, January 24, 2004, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born October 26, 1941, in Owensville, Missouri, the son of Alfred and Alma Koelling Idel.

He was a 1961 graduate of Jefferson City High School. He was a truck driver and enjoyed Hot Rods, including his own 1934 Ford Coupe. He also loved water skiing and the outdoors. He was a veteran of the United States Army, where he served four years in Germany. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church; the American Legion Post 5; the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2693 and the Teamsters Union Local #833.

He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law: Shawn and Tonya Idel of Holts Summit; two daughters: Kim Idel of Jefferson City and Kelly Fancher of Lake Ozarks; his fianc?e: Deborah Payne of Jefferson City; one sister: Shea Idel of Kansas City and four grandchildren: Rylee Lynn Idel, Jordan Reeves, Kyle Volkart and Sarah Sundemeyer.

Friends will be received from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Directors - Jefferson City Chapel.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2004, at the Houser-Millard Funeral Directors - Jefferson City Chapel, with Rev. Mark Dumas officiating. Entombment with Full Military Honors will follow in the Hawthorn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society for Pancreatic Cancer Research. Arrangements are under the direction of the HOUSER-MILLARD Funeral Directors - Jefferson City Chapel, 2613 West Main Street; 636-3838.
