Biles – At St. Vincent's Hospital, May 31, of pneumonia, James Norman Biles, of 772 Glisan street. Beloved son of Mrs. Mary E. and the late J. D. Biles; brother of Mrs. Samuel H. Maddock, Miss Daisy Biles, W. S. Biles and Mrs. Edward L. Howe. Remains at Holman's parlors. Funeral announcement later.

James Norman Biles, who died at St. Vincent's Hospital Tuesday of pleural pneumonia, was an Oregon boy who left Portland 18 years ago to become a member of the art department of the Examiner and later of the Chronicle, in San Francisco. In 1904 he went to New York to attend the Art League. Afterward he took up commercial art with the Street Railway Advertising Company of that city. In 1909 he traveled abroad and studied at the Juliens School. A year ago he came to this city to take up commercial art.

Two pictures by Mr. Biles are among the local exhibition of Oregon artists in the Art Museaum.
