hirley Hofmann, 65, of 1489 Forest Grove Road, Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, March 1, 1997 in St. Luke's Hospital following a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Turner Chapel East, where friends may all from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Larry Johnson of Open Door Churchwill officiate. Burial: Campbell Cemetery, Bertram.

Survivors include her husband, Jack;four sons, Jon Hofmann and wife Sally of Cedar Rapids, Paul Hofmann and wife Jeanof Battle Creek, (IA), Joseph Hofmann of San Diego, CA, and James Hofmann of Sacramento, CA ; a daughter Patricia Fox and husband Tim of Center Point, (IA); her mother, Irene Hogan of Iowa City, a brother, Don Hogan of Iowa City; three sisters, Pat Schuessler of Iowa City, Phyllis Zazour of HOuston, and Sherrie McCurdy of Northville, Michigan; and 15 grandchildren: Katrina, Chet, Christy, Martin, Amybeth, McKenzie,Tom, Peter, Molly, Mick, Rachel, Anna, Nate, and Aaron Hofmann, and Cassidy Fox.

She was preceded in death by her father, Everett Hogan; stepfather, Edward Hogan, and three brothers, Wendell, Mickey and Darrell Hogan.

Shirley was born Jan. 23, 1932, in Iowa City where she married Jack Hofmann on Feb. 7, 1953. Shewas a homemaker, a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Shirley touched many lives through her nature to yield herself to theneeds of others. She was very devoted to her family and grandchildren and will be greatly missed.

Friends may give to the American Lung Association instead of flowers.
