Arlene E. Christensen died Thursday, February 28, 2002, at her home in Eagle Grove, Iowa, at the age of 80.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Pressler, and husband, Ray, and Donna Christensen and her special friend, Warren Davis, all of Eagle Grove; one grandson, Jason Pressler, Eagle Grove; one sister-in-law, Dottie Shurson, Abilene, Kan.; and one brother-in-law, Vern Christensen, and wife, Nola, Eagle Grove.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, George, and two brothers, Mel and Joe Shurson.

Funeral services were held on Monday, March 4, at 1:30 p.m., at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove with Reverend Wayne J. Droessler officiating. Burial was held in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove.

Arlene Evelyn Shurson, the daughter of Anfin and Avie (Minor) Shurson, was born on October 23, 1921, in Eagle Grove. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth, graduating from Eagle Grove High School in 1940. She was united in marriage with George Howard Christensen on February 28, 1946, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove. The couple moved to a farm in 1946, where she still resided. Her husband died on October 28, 1976. She raised over 10,000 laying hens for 8 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
