Jennings, La. - Mrs. Joseph C. Andrus, 57, died at 12:15 a.m. Wednesday in the Alvin Memorial Hospital in Alvin, Texas where she had been a patient for 3 days. She had been visiting her son, Henry Andrus, in Alta Loma, Texas and had been in failing health for some time. She is the former Doris Ortego of Millerville but was a lifelong resident of the Andrus Cove Community. Funeral arrangements are incomplete but the body will be at Miguez Funeral Home until services sometime Friday in the Lake Arthur Catholic Church, Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, with Rev. Harry Pelous officiating. Burial will be in Andrus Cove Cemetery.
Survivors include her father, Theophile Ortego of Lake Charles; her husband, Joseph, Joseph Carroll Andrus of Andrus Cove; two sons, Henry Andrus of Alta Loma and Sidney Andrus of Ohio; five daughters, Mrs. Keith Roy and Mrs. Jimmie Clement both of Jennings, Mrs. R.K. Lowery of Andrus Cove, Mrs. Hoyt Tygrett of Lake Charles and Mrs. Edward Smith of Ohio; five brothers, Nelson of Jennings, Alfred of Vinton, Morise of Lake Charles, Sim of Orange, Tx. and William Ortego of Arcadia, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Julian Miller of Lake Charles and sixteen grandchildren.
