BIRTH: March 18, 1894 on a farm west of Merrill
PARENTS: John and Anna (Hoffmann) Hecht
MARRIAGE: Violet Anderson, Feb. 8, 1934 in Merrill, Iowa
During World War I he served with the United States Army in France.
For several years after the war, he worked as a ranch hand in western Dakota, returning to farm west of Merrill.
After marriage the couple farmed west of Merrill until their retirement. Mrs. Hecht died March 11, 1987.
SURVIVORS: include two sons and their wives, Lawrence and Erma, rural Merrill, and Ralph and Karen of rural Westfield; a daughter and her husband, Coletta and Gifford "Skip" Hughes of Phoenix, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren, and a nephew.
PRECEDED in DEATH by: daughter, Helen Ann, two brothers and two sisters.
PLACE of BURIAL: St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Ellendale
