Born in Adams on Jan. 31, 1926, he was the son of Peter and Josephine (Finik) Zimny. He attended Adams schools.
He first worked for several years for the General Electric Co., Pittsfield, and then worked for Williams College for many years, retiring in 1992.
He enjoyed fishing and mushrooming.
His wife, the former Theresa Biron, whom he married Sept. 7, 1985, died May 6.
He leaves three stepsons, Thomas L. Little of Petersburg, Fla., Robert A. Little of Long Beach, Calif., and Peter C. Little of Pittsfield; six stepdaughters, Sandra L. Little of New York state, Janice M. Zawacki of Georgia, Eva J. Bonney of Becket, Theresa M. Rennie of Pittsfield, Patricia A. Studley of Cheshire, and Jeanne E. Gomeau of Adams; 19 step-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Francis W. Zimny will be private. Burial will be at a later date at the convenience of the family.
Donations may be made to the Adams Ambulance Service through the Trottier-Pringle Funeral Home, 6 Summer St., Adams, which is in charge of arrangements.
