THOMASVILLE, GA. - A memorial service for Marijean Allsopp Eilers, 82, of Thomasville, will be Monday, May 11, 2009. Mrs. Eilers died May 7, 2009 at Archbold Hospital from complications of surgery. Born May 26, 1926 in Orlando, Fl, she was the daughter of the late Mabel & Howard Allsopp. She grew up in Lakeland, Fl and graduated from Wesleyan College, Macon Ga. with a double major in psychology/social work. She worked for the Florida Dept. of Welfare in the 1960's and moved to Chicago, Ill, where she was a social worker for over 20 years at Clearbrook Center, a rehabilitation facility for handicapped individuals. Following the death of her husband, Ralph, Mrs. Eilers moved to Thomasville in 1999 and resided at Southern Pines Retirement Community. She was at one time active in the Thomasville Duplicate Bridge Club; a charter member of Chapter BJ, P.E.O. Sisterhood; a member of the Red Hat/Purple Dress Club; and a former member of the Thomasville Woman's Club and a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church. Survivors include daughter, Carol Bacon Kelso of Thomasville, daughter-in-law, Joan Bacon of Wallkill, NY; grandson and wife; granddaughters and husbands; great granddaughters and great grandson. Her son, Richard John "Rick" Bacon (1948-2008) preceded her in death.
