Wilfred was a well known musical comedy star in New York. He performed in several 1903 Broadway shows and in 1905 at Hammerstein's Paradise Roof Garden.

He married Edna Parker on Dec 4, 1912, in Rockville, Maryland. They traveled together, visiting Cuba in 1915, though divorced c. 1927-1932.

His stature, recorded in his 1918 WW-I draft registration, was tall, stout with blue eyes and blond hair. His 300 pound weight earned him nicknames of "Big Boy" and "Fat Boy".
