A native of Surry County, she was born on March 30, 1933, to the late Robah Lee and Nellie Inman George.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jean Stewart.
Mrs. Lackey was a member of First Baptist Church of Stanleyville, and was retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co.
Surviving are her husband of 13 years, Bill Lackey of the home; a daughter, Cheryl Hodges Pruitt of King; two sons, Rick Hodges and wife Jane of Winston-Salem, and Jerry Hodges and wife Beverly of King; three granddaughters, Nikki Pruitt, Amanda Hodges and Jennifer Lee; three grandsons, Jamie Pruitt, and Brandon and Jason Hodges; two great-grandchildren, Amber Hodges and Chris Lee; three sisters, Barbara Lawson and Peggy Isaacs, both of Westfield, and Bonnie McCraw of Cana, Va.; and two brothers, Pete George and Jack George, both of Westfield. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and a host of special friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Stanleyville, officiated by Pastor Jonathan Rogers and Dr. Jim Baldwin. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. this evening (Sunday) at the church.
