George M. Amthor, Jr. was the son of George, Sr. and Clara Kelly Amthor; the husband of Katheryne Louise Hartley Amthor; and the father of George M. III, Marcus D., and Kathy Ann Amthor.

He was a well-known San Saba businessman and civic leader. 1983 San Saba Chamber of Commerce "Man of the Year".
