Edwin H. Niehaus, 69, of St. Jacob, died Thursday morning in St. Joseph's Hospital, Highland, after a long illness.
Born June 21, 1901 in Nashville, he was a son of the late Christ H. and Ida Beek Niehaus. His first wife, the former Tillie Amelia Tielemann [married October 26, 1927], died Sept. 4, 1967.
On June 26, 1969 he was married to Caroline Kombrink at Pinckneyville. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Richard Niehaus of Highland, and four sisters, Mrs. Frieda Lewis of West Frankfort, and Mrs. Amelia Rohlfing, Mrs. Bertha Holzhaur and Mrs. Luelle Neuhaus, all of Nashville.
His daughter, Caroline, died Oct. 3, 1966.
He was a member of the St. Jacob United Church of Christ and the Volunteer Firemen.
Friends may call at the Aebischer Funeral Home in St. Jacob after 2 p.m. Saturday.
The Rev. Gerald Senn, pastor, will officiate at services at 2 p.m. Sunday in the church.
Burial will be in Keystone Cemetery.
