FOELL, Thomas Field, age 56 of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and beloved husband and best friend of Marianne for 28 years, passed away after his brave and courageous battle with lung cancer on Sunday, December 22, 2013 surrounded by his family.

Tom was a selfless, optimistic, hard-working man who lived life to the fullest. His sunny optimism brightened the world. He was born in Dearborn, Michigan on July 13, 1957 to Howard and Janet Foell. Tom was raised in Birmingham, Michigan and was a 1975 graduate of Seaholm High School. In high school, he played basketball, football and baseball. He went on to Oakland University where he played baseball as a catcher and received his bachelor's degree in Management. It was in college that he met the love of his life, Marianne Hayes. Tom was one of those guys who could play any sport he tried and be good at it. He was a true athlete. He loved all the Detroit teams, and remained an avid sports fan throughout his life. He was a scratch golfer and enjoyed anything on the water. He loved sailing, golf, baseball, the Pioneers (Golden Grizzlies), the Spartans, and of late, the Western Broncos. When his kids were young, Tom coached their softball and baseball teams, was a Cub Scout leader, and did all the things a dad should do that would make meaningful memories for his kids. He attended all their school functions, games, and dance recitals. Something he was very proud of was flying with his son Ryan who is training and studying to be a pilot. He was also proud of Allison who is attending grad school to become a Physical Therapist. Tom was an incredible uncle to his many nieces and nephews, always remaining active in their lives. At family gatherings, Tom was always known to sit at the "kids" table. Tom packed a lot of life into his 56 years. Although he will be greatly missed, he will be in our hearts forever. Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Marianne. Devoted father of Allison and Ryan. Dear son of Howard and Janet Foell. Brother of the late Kurt. Son-in-law of Charles and Ruth Hayes. Brother-in-law of Peggy Hayes and Brian Burns, Sharon and Jerry Badyna, Denise and Dan Devine, Tom and Belinda Hayes, Will and Cheryl Hayes. Uncle to Matt, Megan, Jenny, Laura, Erin, Leigh, Nick, Kyle and Shannon. Tom is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Family will receive friends Thursday, December 26th and Friday December 27th from 3-8pm at A.J. Desmond & Sons (Vasu, Rodgers, & Connell Chapel) 32515 Woodward Ave (between 13-14 Mile). A Prayer Service will be held on Friday at 7pm followed by sharing of memories. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 10:00am at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 4580 Adams Road, (north of Wattles) in Troy, Michigan. Visitation begins at the church at 9:30am. Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy can make a donation to the Tom Foell Baseball Scholarship Fund that is being established at Oakland University
