Funeral services for Mrs. Richard Hohbach of Paullina were held Monday afternoon Jan. 5 at the Zion Lutheran Church, Mrs. Hohbach passed away January 1 at the Sheldon hospital. Rev. Donald I. Johnson was a clergyman,. Pallbearers were Richard Cave, Steve Hohbach, Robert Callenius, Michael Hohbach and Kevin Hohbach. Mrs. Clarence Hibbing was organist and accompanied by the congregation as they sang two hymns. Burial was at the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery near Germantown. Bertha Schroeder Hohbach, the daughter of Henry Schroeder and Sophia nee Gebert and was born on July 1st, 1904 at McLain, Kansas. She was baptized on July 24, 1904. She spent her early childhood in Kansas and came to the Germantown area with her parents. She was educated and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and St. John's Lutheran Germantown on April 11, 1917. In February 1926 she was united marriage to Richard Hohbach. To this union seven children were bore, Richard and Bertha farm in the Germantown area for many years. They retired and moved to Paullina. About two weeks ago Bertha had been taken to the Sheldon hospital where she passed away on Thursday of last week at the age of 71 years and six months. She leaves to mourn her passing her beloved husband Richard; three sons and daughters, Floyd and Junior of Granville, and Donald of Park Forest, Illinois three daughters, Lorraine, Mrs. Ervan Jahn of Sheldon, Dolores, Mrs. Glen Cave of Cherokee, and Adeline, Mrs. Merle Callenius of Hospers. She's also survived by 26 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, one twin sister, Mrs. Alma Schmidt of Paullina, also mourns her passing. She was preceded by her parents; one son LeRoy; granddaughter, June Cave, and grandson Stanley Callenius. Two brothers and two sisters also preceded her death. Bertha was a longtime member of the St. John's and Zion here in Paulina and a member of the Ladies Aids. This information was published by the Paullina Times Jan. 8, 1976.
