Wayne Howard Hoecker, 66, passed away July 31, 2006, at North Kansas City Hospital.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, at Platte Woods United Methodist Church. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 4, at Memorial Cemetery in Columbia.

He was born on Nov. 27, 1939, in Ames, Iowa to Wesley Henry Hoecker and Grace Semon Hoecker.

He graduated from Hickman High School in 1957 and the University of Missouri in 1961.

He served as an officer in the Navy and then attended law school at the University of Missouri, where he received his law degree in 1967.

Wayne worked as an assistant attorney general for the State of Missouri. Later, he joined the firm of Gage and Tucker, where he ultimately became partner. He remained as a partner when the firm merged and became Lathrop and Gage. In private practice, Wayne specialized in antitrust and agribusiness litigation. In addition to his work for the firm, he served as General Counsel of Mid-American Dairymen.

Wayne's involvement in the community included a term as secretary for the Kansas City Missouri Police Board. He also served on the board of the Coves Homeowners Association and Winterpoint Homeowners Association in Breckenridge, Colo. He was a longtime member of Platte Woods United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his two daughters, Anne Hoecker of San Francisco and Carolyn Hoecker Luedtke of San Mateo, Calif.; two grandchildren, Kathryn Durbin Luedtke and Stefan Edward Luedtke; a brother, Perk Hoecker of Columbia; and a sister Kay Geuder of Harbor Springs.
