Nancy K. Paradise, age 67, of Rice Lake died Sunday, January 5, 2014 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home. She was born June 23, 1946 in Birchwood, WI to Leonard and Helen (Brott) Olson.

She was raised in Birchwood and graduated from Birchwood High School, in the class of 1964. She was married to Albert Houser on February 27, 1965 and they moved to Rice Lake, and later Haugen. They later divorced. Nancy stayed home to raise their 6 children. She began a catering business and volunteered for Meals on Wheels and Birthright. On June 6, 1990 she married LaVerne Paradise in Chisago City, MN. Nancy earned employment at Lakeview Medical Center as a Pharmacy Tech, a job she held until 1993. Nancy was a terrific cook, an active volunteer, including religious education director at Our Lady of Lourdes and truly enjoyed traveling all over the U.S.

She is survived by: 6 children, Tom (Brenda) Houser of Sarona;Jeff Houser of Onamia, MN; Mike (Deborah) Houser of Sarona;Karen (Quinlan) Thomas of Chetek; Katherine (Bill) Duerkop of Haugen; Maria (Doug Everson) Blaser of Chetek; 8 granchildren: Heidi, Megan, Peter, Sam, Emily, Brandi, Michael and Jeff; 1 step-daughter, Kaye (Jim) Franta; 3 step- grandchildren: Andrea Franta of North Dakota, Becky Franta of Minnesota, and Shane North of Chetek; her sister, Delores (Herb) Kraimer of Edgewater.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husbands, Albert Houser and LaVerne Paradise, her parents and several siblings.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday at Skinner Funeral Home in Rice Lake with Father Dennis Mullen officiating. Burial will be in Nora Cemetery in Rice Lake. Pallbearers are Tom Houser, Mike Houser, Quinlan Thomas, Joe Seemann, Michael Duerkop and Bill Duerkop .

Friends may call from 11:00 AM until the time of the service Friday at the Skinner Funeral Home in Rice Lake.
