Herman Heinrich Quatman was born in the Oldenburg area of Germany. He was a tailormaster. He married Maria Anna Wente on February 1, 1825 in Langforden. They had three children before he died prior to 1835 in the Minster area. He was probably buried on his property since there was no cemetery at the time. Herman, Maria Anna and their children emigrated about 1832 to Cincinnati and joined the Stallo group that made the trip up the canal in the wilderness to found Minster (Stallotown).
