She died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, at Avera Eureka Health Care Center.
Emma Klooz, daughter of Fred and Barbara (Spitzer) Klooz was born Nov. 30, 1903, at Eureka. She attended country school southwest of Long Lake and helped on the family farm.
She was united in marriage to Karl Meier on July 27, 1930, at Long Lake. They made their home southwest of Long Lake but did not farm. Her husband died Aug. 16, 1956.
She was then united in marriage to Joseph Conlon on June 8, 1973, at Long Lake. They made their home in Long Lake. Her husband died Dec. 30, 1979.
Emma lived in the Long Lake area and worked for the United States Postal Service for many years as a clerk. In 1993, she sold her house and moved into the Senior Housing Apartments in Long Lake. In 1996, due to declining health, she chose to move to the Ashley Nursing Home and in 1998 to Avera Eureka Health Care Center.
She loved gardening, quilting, cooking and playing cards. She had many fond memories of spending time with her friends and relatives over the years.
She was a member of Salem Emmanuel Lutheran Church and a past member of the Ladies Aide and Long Lake Senior Citizens.
Survivors include one daughter-in-law, LaVina Meier of Long Lake, three grandchildren, Josie Tarnutzer of Merrimac, Wisconsin, JoAnn Meier of Hartford and Carl (Laurel) Meier of Rochester, Minnesota and five great-grandchildren, Megan and Danielle Tarnutzer and Jakob, John and Annalise Meier.
Her parents, both husbands, one daughter, Kathleen Munsch, one son, Merle Meier, one son-in-law, Hugo Munsch, six brothers and seven sisters preceded her in death.
Casketbearers will be Viola Smolnisky, Vera Kirschman, Florence Krege, Reinhold Schumacher, Richard Jasmer and Glenn Brandner.
Carlsen Funeral Home of Ashley have been entrusted with the arrangements.
