He was born in Cherokee County, S.C., to Roy Arthur and Ruby Porter Whiten.
He was a servant to his country, and his fellow citizens of Gaffney, enlisting at the age of 16, as he served in World War II as a third class gunner’s mate in the Navy and retired from the U.S. Postal Service.
Upon his retirement, he assisted his son-in-law in the establishment of Renfrow Brothers. He was a member of West End Baptist Church, National Association of Letter Carriers and Shelby Moose Lodge.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jerrie Whiten Zeh.
Interment : Frederick Memorial Gardens.
