Charles F. Atwell died Wednesday morning at 8:30 at his home on West Main Street, after a sickness of three weeks with Bright's disease. He had been afflicted with this ailment for some time, but a short time ago his suffering became more acute and upon his seeking the advice of medical experts they offered him no hope. The funeral will be held today (Friday) at 1 p.m. from his late home. The services will be conducted by Rev. J. B. Manley of the M. E. Church.
Mr. Atwell was born September 1, 1856, on a farm southwest of Carrollton in Center Township. He was married to Mrs. Emma Barnhouse, daughter of Moses Irwin of Union Township, on September 26, 1907. Shortly after his marriage he moved from the farm to Carrollton, where he has been employed as engineer at the Carrollton Creamery. His wife died December 27, 1915.
A little son, Charles F. Atwell, Jr., is left an orphan. A sister, Mrs. Emma Simmons of Cleveland, survives, together with three brothers, James Atwell of near Carrollton, Alex Atwell of Atlantic City, and another brother in Colorado. Two step-sons also survive upon whom Mr. Atwell bestowed the affection of a father, Harry Gantz and James Barnhouse.. In character Mr. Atwell was quiet and inoffensive. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
