David Stegemann, 60

A Celebration of Life service for David W. Stegemann of Lakefield was held Oct. 4, 2006, at the United Methodist Church in Lakefield, with Rev. Daniel Brewer officiating. Burial was in the Lakefield Cemetery. David Stegemann died Oct. 1, 2006, at Sunset Cottage in Worthington.
Casket bearers were Roger Lind, James Resch, Pat Barnett, Tom Timko, Dick Noyes and Terry Keller. Peg Amendt was the organist with Kent Mickelson as soloist. The Hansen Funeral Home of Lakefield handled the funeral arrangements.

David Werner Stegemann, son of Werner and Helen (Perkins) Stegemann, was born on July 8, 1946, in Northfield, Minn. David received his education at Mountain Lake, Castle Rock, Northfield and graduated from Wabasha High School in 1964. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture education from the University of Minnesota in 1968. Following his education, David began teaching agriculture at Okabena. He married Mary Wissink on Aug. 21, 1969, at Sheldon, Iowa. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Lakefield, and David continued to teach in Okabena for six years. He then farmed in partnership with Curtis Pietz for seven years. In 1983, he began working for AgStar Financial Services and most recently, served as a senior leasing specialist. David and his sons also operated Stegemann Lawn Care for several years.

David was a member of the United Methodist Church in Lakefield and served on many church committees. He was also a member of Lakefield Lions, Prudence Masonic Lodge No. 97 of Windom, the National Corn Growers, Soybean Growers, and Pork Producers, and had held various leadership positions in the organizations. He was also a supporter of the Jackson County 4-H and FFA programs. David loved being a salesman, talking to people, playing cards and games, mowing lawns and following the activities of his sons.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Mary of Lakefield; three sons, Michael of Danbury, Conn., Aaron and his wife Jody of Marion, Ark., and Adam of Minneapolis; two brothers, Douglas and his wife, Lori Stegemann of Cannon Falls, and Larry and his wife Debbie Stegemann of Wabasha; a sister-in-law, Connie Stegemann of Austin; and other relatives and friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Paul; an infant brother [Stephen, 1943]; and an infant son.
