The Anthon Herald, 18 December 1974, page 1: Funeral services for Raymond T. Ernst, 62, of Rochelle, Illinois, were held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 10 in the Anthon Church of Christ. Mr. Ernst passed away December 7 after a lengthy illness. Pastor Ted Sieck officiated at the services. Pallbearers were David Gruben, Tim Petersen, Donald Huntsberger, Gordon Bell, Raymond Petersen, and David Guthridge. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery at Anthon under direction of the Walter Funeral Home. Raymond Thomas Ernst, son of Charles and Anna Heesch Ernst, was born in Morgan Twp., near Schleswig on June 22, 1912. He grew up in the Schleswig area and on January 21, 1951, Ray and Dorothy Waugh were married at Dakota City, Nebraska. They lived at Anthon until 1956 when they moved to Sioux City. In 1969 Ray and his family moved from Sioux City to Rochelle, Illinois, where he resided for the remainder of his life. He was a long-time employee of Swift & Company. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. David (Viena) Gruben of Rochelle, Illinois; Miss Siena Ernst of Peoria, Illinois; and Mrs. Doris Pennington who resides in Nevada; one son Donald in New Jersey; four grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Sylvester Schwieso of Tucson, Arizona.
